Savings Bonds are a safe, easy way to save money and a solid addition
to your investment portfolio. They make great gifts too! You can
purchase (or redeem) Series EE Bonds and I Bonds at any UYFCU
office.
Series EE Bonds
1. Denomination available: $50, $75, $100, $200, $500, $1,000,
$5,000, and $10,000
2. Series EE Bonds are purchased for ½ of the face value.
(Example: a $100 bond cost $50 at the time of purchase.)
3. These bonds will earn interest for 30 years from issue date.
4. Series EE bonds are issued only in registered physical form
and are not transferable.
5. There is a 3 month penalty for redeeming (cashing in) an EE
Bond before it is five years old.
6. Series EE bonds cannot be redeemed until 12 months after its
issue date and can be redeemed at any time thereafter.

Bonds
1. Denominations Available: $50, $75, $100, $200, $500, $1,000,
$5,000, and $10,000.
2. Purchased at face value.
3. Interest accrues monthly and compounds semi-annually for 30
years from issue date.
4. Series I bonds are issued only in registered form and are not
transferable. The bonds may be either in book-entry or definitive
form.
5. You can purchase up to $5,000 worth of I Bonds annually (each
calendar year). NOTE: You can purchase up to $5,000 in EE Bonds
as well, totaling $10,000 maximum annually.
6. There is a 3 month interest penalty for redeeming an I Bond
before it is five years old.
7. Series I bonds have a maturity period of 30 years, consisting
of an original maturity period of 20 years and an automatic extension
period of 10 years. The bonds have an interest-paying life of
30 years after the date of issue and cease to increase in value
on that date.
